  2. Installing Hercules Graphite Windows 3.1 drivers the first time
  3. ---------------------------------------------------------------

  5. To install Hercules Graphite Windows 3.1 drivers the first time,
  6. you should NOT use Windows' SETUP program first. Instead, you should
  7. use Graphite's Install program to copy all the necessary files for you.
  8.  
  9. After the installation, you must run Windows' SETUP program to tell
  10. Windows about the Graphite drivers:
  11.  
  12.   1) Go to your Windows directory, and type SETUP.
  13.   2) Pick "Display:", then press the Enter key.
  14.   3) Pick "Hercules Graphite Card (All Resolutions)" from list, then
  15.        press the Enter key.
  16.   4) Press the Enter key to "Accept the configuration shown above".
  17.   5) If Windows presents a screen of currently installed drivers,
  18.        press the Enter key to "Keep Driver".    *** important ***
  19.   6) Start Windows.

  21. Use the Hercules Picture Windows utility to switch to other screen
  22. resolutions or color depths.

  28. Installing the Windows Drivers with Windows on a Network 
  29. --------------------------------------------------------
  30. When you are prompted for the Windows directory name during
  31. the installation process, make sure you enter the name of
  32. the local Windows directory (the one on your own hard disk),
  33. as opposed to the network Windows directory. You should also
  34. always run Windows' SETUP in your local Windows directory.

  38. Updating the Windows drivers from a previous version
  39. ----------------------------------------------------

  41. Case 1) If you have a complete Graphite Windows 3.1 drivers
  42.         diskette.
  43.  
  44.  Method 1:
  45.     You can use the Graphite install program to re-install the
  46.     drivers. The install program is located in your Graphite
  47.     operating software directory (e.g. C:\HERCULES) and can be
  48.     invoked by typing HERCULES if that directory is in your PATH.

  50.  Method 2:
  51.     You can use UPWIN.BAT supplied in your Graphite Windows
  52.     diskette. Log to the drive containing the disk and type:
  53.  
  54.         UPWIN [source drive:] [Windows directory]
  55.         (e.g. UPWIN  A:  C:\WINDOWS)
  56.  
  57. Case 2) If you have only the driver files (agx.drv, agx64016.drv,
  58.         agx64024.drv, agx80016.drv, and vddagx.386), you can 
  59.         manually copy the new driver files into the directory 
  60.         containing the old driver files.

  62. No matter which case you choose to update the files, you must 
  63. re-run the Windows SETUP program after updating the drivers.
